MTS has launched 5G network coverage in Kurgan, utilizing existing LTE 2100 MHz frequencies. The deployment covers key areas of the city, including the Central and Zaozerny districts, as well as major public spaces like the Decembrists Square and Trinity Square.

The new infrastructure also serves social and industrial sites, such as the Gorbenko Sports Complex, the Olimp swimming pool, the Yunost ice arena, the Kurgan State University, and the regional hospital. The rollout follows a strategy of deploying 5G on existing LTE bands in major Russian cities.

According to MTS, the network uses 5G-Ready equipment installed over recent years. This technology aims to support smart city initiatives, IoT applications, video analytics, and industrial automation for local enterprises.

Previously, on September 11, 2026, MTS launched a gigabit 5G network in the 4.9 GHz band across Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, and Ufa, achieving peak speeds of 1.5 Gbit/s.
