MegaFon has launched a 5G network in the business and historical districts of Samara, including the embankment, Kuibyshev Square, and Strukovsky Garden. The deployment utilizes the operator's existing LTE infrastructure through frequency modernization.

Access to the 5G network is automatic for users with compatible devices on current service plans without requiring SIM card changes. For devices lacking native 5G support, the operator offers a specific mode to increase data speeds.

The rollout in Samara is part of a broader national program led by CEO Khachatur Pombukhchan. The company aims to expand 5G coverage across major industrial centers and cities with populations exceeding one million.

The technology is already active in several other Russian cities, including Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Kazan, Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Veliky Novgorod, and Tver.
