Maxinsights, a Santa Clara-based company, has secured $30 million in a seed funding round led by Peak XV. Other participants in the round included Tola Capital, South Park Commons, INCE Capital, and Alumni Ventures. The company plans to utilize these funds to scale its data collection efforts, enhance its proprietary software and hardware, and support global operations.

The startup employs over 5,000 contractors across six countries to record first-person footage of real-world tasks, such as loading dishwashers or washing cars. This data is then sold to AI labs for training robotic models. Maxinsights claims to have captured over 2 million hours of footage, with 1.5 million hours currently prepared for model training.

The company operates a five-step pipeline that includes collecting footage via proprietary cameras, annotating it with custom models, and curating datasets. Maxinsights states it processes 450,000 hours of video per month. The firm reports that its automated quality control system, MaxLoop, has reduced review costs by approximately 80% and decreased the size of its human review team by 90%.

Maxinsights currently serves more than 30 customers, including AI labs, with eight clients on recurring contracts. Notable projects include supplying 200,000 hours of footage for the GENE-26.5 model by Genesis AI and serving as a primary data provider for Dyna Robotics' Dyna-2 model. The company competes with firms like Mecka AI in the physical AI data market.
