Maverick Corporation has been selected to manage the design, construction, and installation of the PlugNYC curbside electric vehicle charging network. The project spans all five boroughs of New York City and aims to replace existing pilot infrastructure.
The contract involves the installation of 600 additional curbside chargers over the next three years. The initiative is a collaboration between the City of New York and the New York Power Authority, with charger placement focused on areas with high concentrations of Taxi and Limousine Commission drivers.
This infrastructure expansion supports the city's Green Rides Initiative, which mandates that all Uber and Lyft trips licensed by the commission must be electric or accessible by 2030. Maverick will handle engineering, construction, and utility coordination for the rollout.
Maverick brings 30 years of experience in Make Ready infrastructure to the project. The company previously collaborated with it's electric on a similar buildout in Boston in 2025, leveraging its long-standing relationship with the New York Power Authority and state entities.
