South Korean startup Lutra has introduced the HOA A1, a screen-free digital camera under its new brand, Humans of Authenticity. The device features a large open viewfinder designed to let photographers maintain eye contact with their subjects while framing shots. The camera includes a small rear LCD for status information, such as battery level and remaining storage, while all other operations are handled via a top-mounted shutter button.
The hardware is equipped with a 16-megapixel Sony sensor and a 26mm f/1.75 lens. The A1 does not support traditional file transfers via USB or memory cards. Instead, users must connect the device to Wi-Fi and tap their smartphone against the back of the camera to access images. An internet connection is required for viewing and downloading photos, though it is not necessary for capturing them.
The camera incorporates a system called ShootProof, which records an anonymous certificate for every image onto a public blockchain. Additionally, users can enable a signature mode to overlay their name on photos through a companion app. The company is currently refining color and tone settings for the device. The HOA A1 First Edition is scheduled for release on December 1st with a limited production run of 100 units.
The camera is priced at ₩360 000 or $289 for customers in the United States. Preorders for the device have not yet commenced.
