Wuhan Lotus Automobile Sales has initiated a recall for specific imported Lotus Elise 220 vehicles. The campaign covers 33 units manufactured between June 10, 2014, and December 13, 2015.

The recall stems from a manufacturing defect in the low-pressure fuel pump impeller. Improper resin molding conditions resulted in insufficient density, causing the component to swell and deform when exposed to fuel.

This deformation can lead to interference with the fuel pump housing, causing the pump to malfunction. In extreme scenarios, the engine may stall while the vehicle is in motion, creating a safety risk.

The company will provide free replacements for the affected fuel pumps to resolve the issue. Owners are advised to contact the manufacturer to arrange for the necessary service.
