The 1991 Honda NSX once owned by Formula 1 champion Ayrton Senna was sold at an RM Sotheby's auction in London on October 31, 2026. The vehicle fetched £871 250, which is approximately $1 169 000. This result established a new world auction record for the NSX model, surpassing the previous record of roughly €1 040 000 ($1 164 000) held by a Type R variant.

The final sale price exceeded the pre-sale estimate range of $682 000 to $1 100 000 by $70 000. The car, chassis T000233, was originally registered in Portugal in March 1991. It features a Formula Red exterior with a black roof and black leather interior. The vehicle returned to Japan in 2024 before being consigned to the London auction.

Known as the Hosepipe NSX, the car is documented in photographs showing Senna washing it at his home. It was also driven by the champion during the 1991 Portuguese Grand Prix weekend at Estoril. This specific provenance distinguished the lot from standard examples of the model, which rarely carry documented links to professional drivers.

The two-day auction event where the NSX was sold achieved a total gross of £36 550 950 with an 87.5 percent sell-through rate. RM Sotheby's stated this was the highest-grossing collector car auction ever held in the UK. Another notable result from the same event included the sale of a Ferrari Daytona SP3 for £8 161 250, approximately $10 936 000.
