Li Auto has notified several customers that their orders for the new Li MEGA, originally scheduled to feature CATL 5C ternary lithium batteries, cannot be fulfilled as planned. The company cited a shortage of CATL batteries as the reason for this change.

Affected customers who placed orders before 15:00 on September 7 are being offered two options. They can either proceed with the delivery by accepting the company's self-developed Lianshan batteries, receiving benefits worth ¥3,500, or cancel their orders.

In the event of a cancellation, Li Auto will refund the initial deposit of ¥5,000 and provide an additional compensation of ¥5,000 for breach of contract. The company has not provided a direct explanation regarding the status of its partnership with CATL.

Li Auto previously announced on September 7 that initial deliveries of the MEGA would use CATL batteries. The company plans to transition to its own 5C ternary lithium batteries for all units, with deliveries of the self-developed version expected to begin in November.
