Li Auto has introduced the i9, its new flagship battery electric SUV, built on the company's second-generation platform. The 6-seat vehicle is available in a Home trim at a retail price of ¥369 800. It measures 5 225 mm in length with a 3 168 mm wheelbase, making it the largest SUV in the manufacturer's current lineup.

The i9 features a 101-kWh ternary lithium battery with 5C charging support, providing a CLTC range of 705 km. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivers 400 kW and 660 Nm of torque, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. Standard equipment includes air suspension, rear-wheel steering, and a steer-by-wire system.

The cabin is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8797 chip, a 29-inch 6K display, and a 21-inch 4K rear screen. For driver assistance, the model uses the Mach M100 chip, one forward-facing LiDAR, and the Mach VLA model. An optional package adds a second Mach M100 chip and two side-facing LiDAR sensors for an additional ¥30 000.

The launch aims to improve the company's sales mix and profitability following a net loss of ¥1.7 billion in the second quarter. Li Auto reported 37 679 vehicle deliveries in August, representing a 32.07% year-on-year increase. The company plans to transition its new models, including the i9, from CATL batteries to in-house developed units.
