Legato has officially launched its AI-powered hearing glasses, Legato Frames, designed for adults experiencing mild to moderate hearing loss. The device integrates patented hearing-assistance technology directly into the frame arms, with prices starting at $999. The product is available for purchase through the company's website and select eye care providers in the U.S., where it qualifies for vision insurance coverage.
The glasses utilize an AI system that isolates human voices from background noise, processing all audio locally without the use of cameras or recording features. The hardware features an open-ear design with a dual-speaker system that minimizes sound leakage by 99%. The frames weigh 34 grams, offer 10–12 hours of battery life, and support Bluetooth streaming for calls and music.
The startup was founded in 2024 by former Bose executives Mehul Trivedi and Steve Romine. Prior to launching Legato, Trivedi worked on smart eyewear at EssilorLuxottica, while Romine served as COO at Audicus. The company recently emerged from stealth mode, having secured $12 million in funding from investors including Neotribe Ventures, Listen, and Village Global.
The founders aim to reduce the stigma and costs associated with traditional hearing aids by combining hearing technology with consumer-grade eyewear. The frames are offered in three distinct styles and can be fitted with prescription lenses, positioning the product as a functional alternative to conventional hearing-assistance devices.
