Kia has unveiled specialized police patrol versions of its EV5 electric SUV and PV5 electric van. The company presented these concepts at the 2026 International Public Security Industry Exhibition in South Korea, highlighting their potential for public sector deployment.
The EV5 patrol model features a luggage capacity of up to 965 liters, supplemented by an additional luggage board designed for storing police equipment. Both vehicles are equipped with custom sirens, emergency lighting, and official police badging.
The PV5-based AI Patrol Car, developed in collaboration with the Korean National Police Agency, incorporates advanced surveillance technology. It includes three 4K AI cameras capable of identifying weapons and emergency situations, such as individuals collapsing, to alert officers automatically.
The PV5 van also features a roof-mounted drone docking station that charges the device during operation. The drones are equipped with thermal imaging cameras offering 90X zoom, allowing for license plate identification and tracking of suspects.
These AI-integrated patrol vehicles have been in active service with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Wide Area Prevention Patrol Division since July 2026. Kia intends to further expand its portfolio of custom electric mobility solutions for law enforcement.
