KassiOS is an open-source framework designed to provide a Kaspresso-style abstraction layer over Apple's native XCUITest. It allows developers to define screen objects and user actions while automating expectations, retries, and reporting within the XCUITest framework without external dependencies.

The framework includes built-in features such as automatic element verification via onLoad, screen-specific activity reporting, and intelligent interaction methods. For instance, the tap() method handles element visibility, scrolling, and keyboard dismissal, while state-checking methods like replaceText validate that values have successfully changed.

To validate the framework's effectiveness, the author developed ChaosBank, an application with toggleable bugs, and a test suite that grew from 34 to 71 tests. The suite currently detects all 59 defined defects. A console utility, kassios mutants, automates the process of verifying which tests catch specific bugs by enabling them one by one.

KassiOS includes additional tools such as kassios lint for auditing screen objects, kassios agent for managing simulator permissions and geolocation, and KassHTTP for state preparation via API. It also supports WKWebView interaction, video recording on failure, and integration with Allure and JUnit reporters.

The author suggests KassiOS for teams whose XCUITest helpers have become unmanageable, those requiring high reliability for critical forms and payments, or teams familiar with Kaspresso on Android seeking a similar structure for iOS development.
