Intel has released the PresentMon 2.6.0 update, focusing on significant performance optimizations. The company reports that CPU overhead is reduced by up to 78 percent. This improvement stems from less aggressive timing for ETW flushing and adjustments to background tasks that do not require high-precision execution.
The update introduces a new Game Experience preset for the overlay. This feature shifts focus from raw frame counts to metrics that correlate with perceived smoothness of motion and animation. Additionally, the tool now supports per-metric multi-device selection, allowing users to display telemetry data from multiple GPUs simultaneously.
PresentMon 2.6.0 also updates the metric picker interface. Unavailable metrics are now displayed in a dimmed state with explanatory text rather than being removed from the list entirely. The tool remains free and open source, with the latest version currently available for download on the official Intel PresentMon product page.
