Intel is developing the upcoming Nova Lake Xeon E-series processors, which will feature two distinct architecture types. According to reports, the lineup will consist exclusively of either P-core or E-core configurations, with no hybrid models being produced for this specific series.

The P-core lineup will offer five variants, providing 4, 6, 8, 12, or 16 cores. The E-core series will include four options featuring 4, 8, 16, or 32 cores. These processors are intended for the W980 chipset platform, which is designed for workstation use.

The W980 platform supports DDR5 memory with ECC and provides up to 48 PCIe lanes. This includes 12 PCIe 5.0 lanes and 12 PCIe 4.0 lanes from the chipset. Additionally, the platform features DMI 5.0 x4, doubling the chipset bus bandwidth to 128 Gbps per direction.

Connectivity options for the new platform include two 40 Gbps USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 ports. The processor-attached PCIe 5.0 x16 slot allows for segmentation, and the two M.2 NVMe slots support Gen 5 configurations. The platform also integrates Intel vPro technology.
