Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan confirmed on October 7 that the company remains involved in TeraFab, Elon Musk's initiative to develop semiconductor manufacturing facilities for Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI. This announcement follows Musk's October 3 disclosure regarding preliminary discussions between TeraFab and TSMC.
While Intel maintains its position in the project, the specific roles, financial terms, and production commitments remain undisclosed. Intel and Tesla have not provided official comments regarding the current scope of their collaboration. Reports from Tom's Hardware previously suggested the potential use of Intel's 14A process technology.
Currently, no formal agreements have been signed with TSMC, and Intel has not been replaced. The distribution of manufacturing responsibilities between Intel and TSMC, should the latter join, remains unresolved. Further details on technology integration and investment structures are expected in future official statements.
