Instagram has begun testing a new video format called Features, which allows creators to upload videos up to 90 minutes long. This shift marks a departure from the platform's long-standing focus on short-form content.

The company is also testing a feature called Clips as Reels, enabling creators to generate short clips from their long-form videos that link back to the full content. Users will also be able to save longer videos for viewing on the Instagram TV app.

Currently, these features are being tested in Brazil and are expanding to a small group of users in the United States. Additionally, Instagram is developing a hub for episodic Reels on creator profiles and improving discovery tools for Live video.

Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri noted that while short-form content remains a core focus, the platform aims to create a symbiotic relationship between short and long-form formats to keep users within the Instagram ecosystem.
