Meta plans to raise up to $95 billion through a stock offering to expand its AI infrastructure. The company has announced an initial offering of common and preferred shares worth approximately $35 billion, alongside an additional program to sell shares on the open market valued at up to $60 billion.

The second phase of the capital raise is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2027, following the start of trading for new non-voting Class C shares. Meta has not yet finalized the specific terms or timelines for these offerings. The funds are intended to support the company's competitive efforts against OpenAI and Anthropic.

Nvidia, AMD, and Broadcom have expressed interest in purchasing Class A shares totaling up to $5 billion. Analysts at William Blair note that this move highlights the growing capital requirements for AI development and Meta's confidence in the long-term returns of its infrastructure investments.

This strategy reflects a broader industry shift where major technology firms are increasingly turning to equity and debt markets to finance AI expansion. Previously, these companies relied primarily on their own cash reserves to fund such projects.
