InkPeek is an open-source Android application designed to function as a dictionary and translator for e-readers like Boox. It integrates with apps such as FBReader, CoolReader, and KOReader using the ColorDict 3 protocol, allowing users to translate words and phrases directly from the reading interface.

The application operates offline by utilizing custom-built dictionaries derived from Wiktionary and WikDict data. It supports 20 language pairs, with each pair requiring at least 85% coverage of the 5,000 most frequent words. Offline translation of phrases is powered by Mozilla's Bergamot models, while language detection is handled by fastText.

When connected to the internet, InkPeek provides additional AI-driven features, including grammatical analysis, context explanations, and idiom interpretation. Users can connect to various API providers, such as OpenRouter, or run local servers via LM Studio or Ollama to process these requests.

Performance tests on a Boox Go 6 device, equipped with a Snapdragon 662 processor and 2 GB of RAM, show offline phrase translation speeds between 0.1 and 0.9 seconds. Language packs range from 25 MB to 60 MB, and the project is released under MIT, CC BY-SA, and MPL-2.0 licenses.
