The Lone Star Infrastructure Coalition (LSIC) officially launched on October 1, 2026, to address growing local opposition to AI infrastructure in Texas. The group aims to communicate the economic benefits of data centers and power projects directly to residents and government officials.

The coalition includes Blackstone’s QTS, NextEra Energy, Siemens Energy, Quanta Services, the Nuclear Energy Institute, and Lancium. Led by President Jimmy Glotfelty, the organization seeks to counter concerns regarding environmental impact, electricity demand, and water usage.

Regulatory scrutiny has intensified in Texas, with Governor Greg Abbott ordering audits of data center proposals in August 2026, followed by an investigation into water-use compliance by Attorney General Ken Paxton in September 2026.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) reports over 474 gigawatts in interconnection requests, with data centers accounting for approximately 90% of this demand. Nationally, 120 data center projects valued at nearly $200 billion were blocked in the first half of 2026.
