Huawei is preparing to launch a new sub-brand called Starlight. While smartphones will be part of the initial offering, the company intends to expand the portfolio to include wearable devices and small home appliances. All products under the new label will run on the HarmonyOS operating system.

The primary objective of the Starlight brand is to attract new users and broaden the reach of the HarmonyOS ecosystem. Huawei aims to create a unified line of interconnected products rather than focusing on isolated hardware categories, serving as a gateway for consumers who are not yet part of the company's ecosystem.

The introduction of Starlight is expected to strengthen Huawei's position in the mass market. The company has lacked a dedicated brand for mid-range devices since the spin-off of Honor in November 2020, which previously targeted the ¥2000 to ¥4000 price segment.

The new sub-brand is positioned to fill the gap left by the departure of Honor by offering more affordable electronics. Huawei has not yet disclosed the official launch date or the specific technical specifications of the first product lineup.
