Huawei has officially launched its Mate 90 series, featuring the new fourth-generation Kirin tau-series chips. The lineup includes the Kirin 9030 for the Mate 90, the Kirin 9035 for the Mate 90 Pro, and the Kirin 9050 and 9050 Pro for the Mate 90 Pro Max and RS models.

The Kirin 9050 Pro marks the debut of Huawei's proprietary logic folding technology. According to Richard Yu, executive director and chairman of the Terminal BG, this innovation addresses physical limitations in transistor scaling by optimizing data transmission paths and circuit layout, effectively layering logic circuits to reduce latency.

The design philosophy, termed the Tao Law, focuses on minimizing data travel and waiting times within the processor. By restructuring the chip architecture into a multi-layered format connected by high-speed channels, the company aims to improve performance in CPU, GPU, NPU, and ISP tasks.

Huawei confirmed that its semiconductor division has successfully designed and mass-produced 381 different tau-series chips. These processors are currently utilized across various sectors, including mobile devices, artificial intelligence, general-purpose computing, networking, and smart automotive systems.
