Huawei introduced the new hyperspace storage technology during the HarmonyOS 7 and HUAWEI Mate XT 2 launch event held on September 7. The company claims that users can save several tens of gigabytes of storage space after upgrading to the new system.

He Gang, CEO of Huawei Terminal BG, clarified that the storage compression process operates gradually. The system performs these tasks specifically when the device is locked and charging. Users who do not see immediate changes after the update are advised to wait a few days.

The HarmonyOS 7 beta program is currently available for older device series, including the Mate 60, Mate X5, and Pura 70. Interested users can register for the update through the software settings menu on their devices.

Huawei has confirmed that the Mate 60 series will receive both the hyperspace storage and hyperspace memory technologies. These features are part of the broader rollout of the HarmonyOS 7 system to existing hardware models.
