Honda is preparing to launch the next generation of its hybrid vehicles, starting with the CR-V model. Production of the new SUV is scheduled to begin in February 2027, with assembly lines first starting in Canada, followed by facilities in the United States.

The vehicle will feature a fifth-generation hybrid system centered around a 2.0-liter four-cylinder direct-injection gasoline engine paired with two electric motors. The powertrain includes the S+ Shift system, which simulates gear changes to mimic the feel of a traditional transmission.

The new platform for mid-size models, combined with the updated hybrid system, aims to reduce vehicle weight by approximately 90 kg. Honda also reports that the new hybrid setup will improve fuel efficiency by more than 10% while lowering production costs by about 30%.

The CR-V will also debut the Honda Motion Management System. This technology utilizes a six-axis inertial sensor to adjust braking force and motor torque in real time, enhancing stability during cornering. Following the CR-V launch, these technologies will be integrated into other models.
