The Hitch Open platform, originating from Silicon Valley and based on research from the University of California, Berkeley, held its global launch at the China International Import Expo on November 7. The platform is now officially open-source and available to the global community.

During the event, a robot powered by the platform set a new world record in table tennis by completing 142 volleys. This achievement was a collaborative effort between the Hitch Open team and Professor Gao Yue's research group from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Shanghai Chuangzhi College.

Hitch Open is designed as a competitive platform for physical intelligence in real-world environments. Its primary goal is to address challenges in perception, decision-making, and action for AI systems. The developers aim to advance technologies in autonomous driving, embodied intelligence, and robotics.

Table tennis serves as a rigorous test for physical intelligence due to the high speed and complex spin of the ball. Robots must operate within a reaction window of only a few hundred milliseconds to maintain the perception-decision-action loop. Each successful volley demonstrates improvements in precision and control.
