A 2019 Chevrolet Bolt EV has reached a milestone of over 471,625 miles on its original electric motor. The vehicle previously logged 330,000 miles on its post-recall battery pack before requiring a replacement due to cell-voltage imbalances and system faults.
The Out of Spec Renew team performed the battery swap, installing a unit sourced from a 2017 model. The replacement battery cost $1,800, though the team estimates that typical consumers would pay between $2,500 and $3,000 for a similar component.
Following the repair and necessary programming, the vehicle is operational again. The owner intends to continue driving the car until it surpasses the 500,000-mile mark.
