Hideo Kojima recently discussed the role of artificial intelligence in game development during an interview with Game*Spark. He compared AI tools to software like Photoshop, noting their ability to enhance productivity and streamline creative workflows.

Despite these benefits, Kojima expressed concern that AI might eliminate the trial-and-error phase, which he considers the most valuable part of the creative process. He compared the act of creation to assembling models or building blocks, where the enjoyment lies in the hands-on experience rather than the final result.

Kojima noted that tasks previously handled by teams under his guidance are increasingly being shifted to computers. While this shift improves efficiency, he worries that relying solely on AI to generate content could strip away the essential human experience of experimentation and adjustment.

Looking ahead, the game producer suggested that unchecked AI development could eventually replace humans in creative roles. However, he believes this is unlikely to happen within the next 5 to 10 years, leaving the future of these creative processes in the hands of the younger generation.
