Haier Group has officially launched the national pilot base for artificial intelligence applications in home appliances, located in Qingdao. The project was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission and recommended by the Ministry of Commerce.
The facility aims to standardize AI integration in home appliances by transitioning from isolated development to industry-wide collaboration. It focuses on overcoming challenges in hardware adaptation, cross-brand connectivity, and the high costs associated with independent AI research and development.
The base will develop five core capabilities, including product and scenario testing, industrial scaling, and security standards. It is designed to act as a connector for supply chains, an accelerator for research-to-production cycles, and an incubator for AI applications.
During the launch ceremony, Haier signed agreements with initial ecosystem partners, including Huawei, China Mobile, and Volcengine. The base also appointed experts from institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Xi'an Jiaotong University to support its development.
