Grayscale reports that stocks in the AI compute infrastructure sector have declined by approximately 27% since late September 2026. Despite this downturn, the firm maintains that the fundamental demand for high-performance computing remains robust and continues to grow.
The firm attributes the recent price drop to concerns over rising borrowing costs, which impact capital-intensive infrastructure projects. However, Grayscale distinguishes between financing challenges and market demand, arguing that the appetite for compute capacity remains unchanged.
Demand is increasingly driven by inference workloads, supported by lower token prices and the growing use of AI agents. Grayscale identifies power access and long construction timelines, estimated at 2 to 5 years for data centers, as primary supply-side constraints.
In September 2026, Grayscale rebranded its Bitcoin Miners ETF to the Grayscale AI Compute ETF (GCPU) to focus on the sector. The firm views the current market dip as an opportunity for investors to enter the high-performance computing space.
