Starting October 9, Google is updating access to AI models within the Gemini application. Free users will be restricted to the Flash-Lite 3.5 model, losing access to the Flash 3.6 and Flash Pro 3.1 versions previously available to them.
Subscribers of the AI Plus plan will also face changes, as they lose access to the Pro model. These users will now be limited to the Flash-Lite and Flash models for a monthly fee of $5.
The company is introducing the Deep Think tool to the AI Pro tier, which costs $20 per month. Previously, this feature was exclusive to high-end plans priced between $100 and $200 per month.
Gemini will also implement new complexity settings, including low, medium, and high levels for available models. While these settings aim to improve response quality, they will also cause users to reach their usage limits more quickly.
The release details for the upcoming Gemini 4 Argon model remain unclear. Google has indicated it will be available to AI Ultra subscribers, but the company has not yet confirmed if it will be part of the Pro tier or a separate subscription.
