Google has launched a personalized Gemini mode for Android Auto, allowing the AI assistant to access user data from Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Maps, Google Photos, YouTube, and Search. This integration enables the system to provide context-aware responses based on the driver's personal information.
The updated assistant can perform tasks such as checking flight statuses via email confirmations, routing to appointments from the calendar, or locating services like car washes using previously saved photos. It can also suggest restaurants along a route based on the user's established preferences.
To enable these features, users must activate Personal Intelligence in the Gemini settings and grant the necessary permissions. In vehicles with built-in Google services, these personalized responses function when a smartphone is connected. Standard features like navigation and music remain available without these settings.
The rollout of this update for Android Auto has already commenced. Support for vehicles with native Google services is scheduled to arrive in the coming months. The feature is currently unavailable in the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland, and Nigeria.
