Google has unveiled a new line of premium laptops called Googlebooks, developed in partnership with Dell, Lenovo, HP, Asus, and Acer. These devices feature high-resolution displays, including OLED options, and are built with premium materials like aluminum, magnesium, and carbon fiber. The hardware is powered by Intel or Qualcomm processors, with a minimum of 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The new Googlebook OS is designed to integrate deeply with Android smartphones, offering features like file synchronization, app casting, and cross-device task continuity. The operating system relies on web-based workflows and Android applications sourced from the Play Store. Google has committed to 10 years of support for the platform, with the duration calculated from the launch of the specific chip and platform.

A key component of the user experience is the integration of Gemini AI, which powers features like the Magic Pointer for contextual tasks, the Rambler text-to-speech tool, and Magic Cues for proactive suggestions. Additionally, the laptops include a Glowbar on the lid for notifications and status updates. Developers will have access to an API for the Glowbar and the Antigravity platform for building agentic workflows.

Pre-orders for the devices are currently open, with retail availability starting October 4 in the U.S. and October 5 in Canada, the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany, and Australia. Pricing begins at $899 for the base Acer model, while the Dell XPS variant starts at $1,199. Other models in the lineup are priced from $1,299. Buyers receive a 12-month subscription to Google AI Pro.
