Google is developing a new AI feature called Call for me, codenamed Hedwig, designed to handle customer service calls autonomously. The tool uses Gemini AI to dial support lines, navigate automated phone menus, and manage hold times on behalf of the user.
The feature was discovered in the code of the Phone by Google beta app, version 239.0.980790129, around September 21, 2026. It is currently in early-stage development and is primarily intended for Pixel devices.
Users can monitor the call progress via live audio streaming or real-time transcripts. Access to the full capabilities of the tool appears to require a Google AI Pro subscription, with new Pixel 11 buyers receiving a 6-month complimentary trial.
The Pixel 11 series, which launched on August 12, 2026, features the Tensor G6 chip and a suite of on-device AI capabilities branded as Gemini Intelligence. Google has not yet provided an official release timeline for the new feature.
