The Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) in Japan released a preliminary report indicating that 85.8% of game developers are currently utilizing generative AI in their daily workflows. This figure shows a significant increase compared to the 51% reported last year.

The survey collected 1,349 responses from individual developers at the CEDEC conference. Among those using AI, 63% report daily usage, while 22.8% use it occasionally. Furthermore, 8.6% of respondents noted that their companies have already implemented specific guidelines for AI usage.

Developers highlighted benefits such as shortened production cycles and reduced costs. Specifically, 837 respondents stated that AI expands creative possibilities, while 738 believe it lowers technical barriers. However, only 147 respondents felt that the technology has improved the actual gaming experience for players.

A separate survey conducted by CESA among member companies revealed that 74% have established internal policies regarding generative AI. Among these companies, 26 are currently using AI in some capacity, while 27 have not yet adopted it. Only 12 companies reported using AI for visual asset creation.
