General Intuition Inc. has secured $220 million in a new funding round, bringing the company's valuation to $6.2 billion. The investment round was led by a group of prominent firms, including Valor Equity Partners, Atreides, Seven Seven Six, Point72, Khosla Ventures, and General Catalyst. The startup plans to utilize these funds to expand its team of AI researchers.
The company, which spun out of the video sharing startup Medal B.V. a year ago, specializes in developing world models that generate synthetic footage for AI training. By using video game footage to train its systems, General Intuition aims to simplify the data collection process for robotics and automation developers who otherwise face time-consuming manual recording tasks.
In June, the company introduced its latest algorithm, MIRA. Unlike traditional video generators limited to short clips, MIRA is designed to run indefinitely. It features 5.6 billion parameters and utilizes latent diffusion to process data efficiently. On a single B200 graphics card, the model can render 20 frames per second at a resolution of 720 by 576 pixels.
While MIRA is currently a research demonstration capable of generating footage for a single video game, General Intuition is already testing a commercial version of its technology. This offering is being evaluated by a select group of customers focused on robotics, simulation, and entertainment. A waitlist for the commercial product is now open to interested parties.
