Users of Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy smartphones are reporting a recurring glitch in Android Auto. The Gemini voice assistant repeatedly asks for the contact name instead of initiating calls or sending messages.

The issue has been documented on Google support forums since early October. Affected devices include the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S25 Ultra, and Galaxy S26 models.

Although Gemini sometimes correctly identifies the contact on the screen, it fails to execute the command. Some users noted that dictating the phone number directly can occasionally bypass the error.

Android Auto specialists are currently gathering diagnostic data, including device models, software versions, and vehicle connectivity methods. Google has not yet identified the cause or a fix timeline.
