Google has expanded the availability of its Gemini AI assistant to Apple CarPlay, following its initial launch on Android Auto last year. The feature is currently accessible to drivers in the United States, with a global rollout currently underway.

Users can access the conversational assistant directly through the Google Maps interface on their vehicle infotainment display by tapping the Gemini icon. This integration allows for hands-free interaction, including complex multi-step queries such as requesting location recommendations and setting navigation preferences like avoiding toll roads.

The update is designed to assist drivers in reporting traffic incidents and gathering information about stops while on the road. However, Google has not confirmed if the Personal Intelligence features recently introduced for Android Auto and built-in Google systems will be available for CarPlay users.
