Geely Auto is preparing to enter the Canadian market with its main brand of electric vehicles. The company is currently establishing the necessary retail, service, and infrastructure networks to support a commercial launch.
The first Geely-branded electric vehicles are scheduled to arrive for Canadian consumers in 2027. This expansion follows a trade agreement reached between China and Canada in January 2026.
Under the current agreement, Canada allows the import of 49 000 Chinese-made electric vehicles annually at a tariff rate of 6.1%. This marks a significant shift from the 100% tariff imposed in late 2024.
Geely Auto already maintains a presence in the region through its ownership of Volvo Cars and Polestar. The company now aims to leverage the new trade terms to build market share with its primary brand.
