Geely Auto Group has officially announced its expansion into the Canadian market. The company is currently establishing local operations and recruiting a dealer network, with plans to begin vehicle sales in 2027.

While the specific model lineup remains unconfirmed, the company is building a traditional franchised retail and service network. Potential candidates for the Canadian market include the EX5 electric SUV and the Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid.

The expansion follows a January trade agreement between Canada and China that reduced tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles. The deal established an annual quota of 49 000 Chinese-made EVs at a 6.1% tariff rate.

Geely Auto Group reported sales of over 3.02 million vehicles in 2025, including nearly 1.69 million electrified units. As of September 2026, the company has sold over 2.23 million vehicles globally.

The Canadian market entry positions Geely alongside other Chinese manufacturers, such as BYD, which is also planning to establish dealerships in the country, starting with Toronto.
