Munich-based Furo, formerly known as Lumera Energy, has secured $4 million in a funding round led by TQ Ventures with participation from Sheryl Sandberg’s family office, Neo, and CDTM Venture Capital. The startup, founded in 2025 as a spin-off from the Technical University of Munich, develops AI software to optimize commercial battery storage systems.

The platform manages energy trading and real-time control by predicting weather and electricity prices up to 48 hours in advance. According to the company, this technology can reduce electricity costs for clients by up to 40%. Furo currently serves over 800 customers across more than 6,000 sites, including partners like Deutsche Bahn, Sonnen, and Enpal.

The company differentiates itself by covering the entire lifecycle of battery storage, from initial planning to live market trading. While competitors often focus on a single stage, Furo provides an end-to-end solution. The founders, who previously worked at companies like Apple and Google, aim to address volatility in the European power grid.

Furo plans to use the new capital to enhance its platform, expand into additional European markets, and increase its headcount. The startup operates within a competitive landscape that includes other German firms like Suena, which raised €8 million, Einklang with €2.2 million, and Scale Energy with €2 million for similar energy management solutions.
