Forbion, a Dutch life sciences venture capital firm, has closed two new funds, Growth Opportunities Fund IV and Ventures Fund VIII, raising a total of €2.3 billion. This marks the firm's largest fundraising to date, surpassing its previous record of €2.09 billion set in October 2024.
The new capital will be used to finance approximately 30 biotech companies. The firm’s total assets under management have now reached €7.5 billion, an increase from the €5 billion reported in October 2024.
Key investors in the round include Eli Lilly and Company, PGGM, MN, KfW Capital, and the Kauffman Foundation. Forbion stated that both existing and new investors participated in the financing.
Growth Opportunities Fund IV will focus on later-stage biopharma companies in Europe and North America, while Ventures Fund VIII will support therapeutics-focused biotech startups. Initial investments from these funds have already been completed.
