The upcoming Firefox 157 stable release, expected on September 29, will introduce the new Nova user interface by default. Mozilla is currently testing this design with users on the Beta channel.
The Nova interface features a redesigned layout where the tab bar, navigation bar, and sidebar are placed in distinct highlighted areas. The design incorporates rounded corners for address bars and tab buttons, along with a glow effect around active tabs to improve visibility.
Updates to the browser include refined icons that maintain visual consistency across both light and dark themes. The interface also simplifies tab grouping, vertical tabs, and split-screen views to reduce navigation steps for users working with multiple documents.
Firefox 157 also marks the return of the compact mode. This feature reduces the screen space occupied by interface controls, allowing users to dedicate more area to web content.
