Mozilla has released the Firefox 157 Beta, focusing on media playback improvements, interface adjustments, and new developer tools. The final version of the browser is scheduled for release at the end of September.
The update optimizes HDR video playback, specifically addressing display issues with 8-bit color formats. Additionally, the browser improves audio-video synchronization when users adjust the playback speed of HTML media elements.
Interface updates include fixes for the vertical tab sidebar and the return of the compact mode option. This mode reduces the space occupied by UI elements, allowing for a denser arrangement of tabs and toolbars to maximize the visible webpage area.
For developers, Firefox 157 introduces support for the at-rule function within CSS @supports rules. It also adds support for the chain value in the CSS overscroll-behavior property, providing more granular control over scrolling behavior.
