Fireflies.ai has expanded its product suite by introducing a dictation feature called Fireflies Talk for its desktop applications on macOS and Windows. The tool allows users to record and transcribe speech directly into any open application by using specific keyboard shortcuts.
To activate the dictation, Mac users press the Fn key, while Windows users utilize the Ctrl and Win keys. The system automatically removes filler words and formats the transcribed text, aiming to assist users in drafting emails, documents, and Slack messages.
The company has integrated this new functionality into its existing subscription plans without additional fees. Fireflies stated that it does not retain voice recordings and processes dictation transcripts locally to ensure user privacy.
This launch follows the company's recent focus on workflow automation. Last year, Fireflies introduced mini-apps for meeting insights, and last month, it released a feature designed to manage email inboxes and draft messages on behalf of the user.
