BYD has updated its compact electric vehicle, the Seagull, which is known as the Dolphin Surf in Europe. The facelifted model features increased dimensions, measuring 4.21 metres in length, 1.81 metres in width, and 1.57 metres in height, with a wheelbase of 2.65 metres. These changes represent an increase of 42.5 cm in length and 15 cm in wheelbase compared to the previous version.

The vehicle now offers a 94-litre frunk and a maximum boot capacity of 1,380 litres. Interior comfort has been enhanced with optional seat ventilation, heating, and massage functions. The powertrain has been upgraded to rear-wheel drive with a multi-link rear suspension, and the motor output now ranges from 85 to 95 kW, allowing for a top speed of 150 km/h.

The updated Seagull is available with two battery options: a 30.1-kWh unit providing a 320 km CLTC range, and a 39.2-kWh unit offering a 420 km CLTC range. Higher trim levels support ultra-fast charging, enabling a 10 to 70 per cent charge in five minutes. Private buyers of these versions in China receive one year of free access to BYD Flash-Charging points.

The model is offered in five trim levels: Vitality, Freedom, Ease, Flight, and Smart. The starting price for the entry-level Vitality version is ¥65 900, down from the previous price of ¥69 900. This reduction is part of a broader price war in the Chinese market involving manufacturers such as Geely, Li Auto, Chery, and VW.
