The industrial software holding Expanta, part of the Ultimatek group, has acquired a 25% stake in CS Technologies, the developer of the Russian PLM platform Staxel. The agreement includes a provision to increase this stake to 50% through two additional tranches. The weighted average valuation for the two tranches is set at 300 ₽ million.

The acquisition aims to address the mid-market segment, which currently lacks comprehensive PLM solutions. While major domestic players like Ascon and Top Systems focus on state-supported projects, Staxel targets medium-sized manufacturing companies. The platform is compatible with existing CAD systems and utilizes a unified data model to manage engineering lifecycles.

Expanta intends to integrate Staxel into its existing portfolio, which includes software for production planning, maintenance management, and AI-driven industrial analytics. According to the company, this addition links engineering data with production and financial outcomes. Staxel currently holds a TRL 9 technology readiness level.

Expanta aims to capture a 2% to 3% share of the Russian PLM market within four years, projecting an annual revenue of 360 ₽–540 million. Strategy Partners estimated the 2024 Russian PLM market at 18 ₽ billion, with a target for domestic solutions to reach a 93% market share by 2030.
