DPD in Russia has launched an online calculator on its website to estimate the cost of long-distance moving. The tool allows customers to calculate shipping prices for items up to 10 cubic meters without operator assistance. The development of the service took approximately two months.
The calculator features a catalog divided into five categories, including furniture, electronics, and sports equipment. Users can select items with pre-defined dimensions or enter weight and volume data manually. The system calculates the total volume, weight, and volumetric weight of the shipment automatically.
Unlike other carriers that estimate costs based on vehicle capacity, the DPD service calculates prices per individual cargo item. Customers can include additional services such as crating, loading, and unloading, while comparing different delivery options like door-to-door or terminal-to-terminal shipping.
While the tool handles standard requests, specialists remain available for complex shipments exceeding the 10-cubic-meter limit. The company notes that the primary flow of customers originates from Novosibirsk, Omsk, and Yekaterinburg, with major destinations including Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
