John Scimone, president and chief security officer at Dell Technologies, stated that agentic AI has significantly lowered the barriers for cyberattackers. While traditional threat actors like criminal gangs and nation-states remain, lower-tier entities now possess advanced capabilities previously unavailable to them.
Speaking at the Dell Technologies New York Symposium, Scimone emphasized that the speed and scale of modern AI-driven attacks render traditional security practices insufficient. He noted that organizations must now deploy AI to defend against AI-based threats.
Dell is currently utilizing frontier models for its internal security. The company is a partner in Anthropic’s Project Glasswing, an initiative that provides vetted organizations with AI tools to protect critical systems. This program has recently been integrated into a broader verification framework.
Scimone highlighted that AI agents offer a significant opportunity for smaller organizations that lack the resources to maintain large security teams. He suggested that future security programs could potentially consist of a single human operator supported by thousands of specialized AI agents.
