A new Gallup survey commissioned by Microsoft reveals that 68% of Americans who use AI daily remain concerned about the technology. The study, which polled approximately 1,000 people in each of 37 countries between April and July 2026, highlights a significant divide in public sentiment regarding artificial intelligence.

The United States leads in AI-related anxiety, with 74% of respondents expressing worry and only 36% expecting the technology to benefit the country. Similar trends appear in other Western nations, such as Canada, where 64% of those aware of AI report concerns despite a 29% daily usage rate among the population.

In contrast, optimism prevails in other regions. In Singapore, 46% of people use AI daily, with 80% expecting it to improve their lives. China and Israel show similar positive outlooks. Globally, 34 out of 37 countries reported curiosity as the primary emotion toward AI, with positive sentiments outweighing negative ones in most surveyed areas.

Trust in AI accuracy remains limited, with a median of only 36% of global respondents expressing high confidence in AI-generated results. In the U.S., only 45% of daily users trust the output. The findings suggest that frequent use does not necessarily equate to reduced anxiety or increased trust in the technology's reliability.
