D-Wave Quantum Inc. has released an update to its Stride hybrid solver, which combines annealing quantum technology with classical computing methods. The company reports an eightfold increase in speed, reducing the time required for a benchmark task from 120 seconds to 15 seconds.

The updated solver demonstrates improved accuracy in solving the traveling salesperson problem. It can process instances involving up to 10,000 locations with an average error rate of 0.02% from the ideal route. When compared to the previous version, the new solver lands over 200 times closer to the optimal solution given the same runtime.

Stride is accessible through Leap, the company's quantum cloud service, which allows users to submit problems over the internet without owning quantum hardware. The previous iteration of the solver, known as hybrid_nonlinear_program_version1, received an update in October 2026.

To support the adoption of the technology, D-Wave has launched a three-course educational program called Applied Quantum Optimization. This training path is designed to assist developers in applying the Stride solver to enterprise-scale optimization tasks in sectors like logistics and manufacturing.
