The CREED project, or Cross-sectoral Renewable Energy-Enabled Demand Management, launched on 1 October with a total budget of €1.29 million. Led by the Austrian Virtual Vehicle Research GmbH, the initiative involves nine European partners from the energy, mobility, construction, and digital sectors.
The project aims to integrate electric vehicles, heat pumps, and batteries into the power grid to stabilize energy distribution and optimize renewable energy use. Researchers intend to shift energy consumption patterns by coordinating the charging of electric vehicles and the operation of heat pumps based on renewable energy availability.
Practical testing will take place at seven pilot sites across Austria, Germany, Portugal, and the Czech Republic over the next two and a half years. The team plans to utilize digital twins and artificial intelligence to model ecosystems and develop forecasting methods for energy generation and demand.
The consortium includes the University of West Bohemia, SEnerCon GmbH, Grazer Energieagentur, Reduxi DACH GmbH, École Centrale Lille, ISEP, AEE, and Burgenland University of Applied Sciences. The project seeks to evaluate how these solutions function under different technical and regulatory conditions.
